IN AND OUT OF TIME

The sun has come The mists has gone We see in the distance, our long way home I was always yours to have, you were always mine We have loved each other in and out of time When the first stone, looked up at the blazing sun and the first tree struggled up the forest floor I had always loved you more You wash your hair, gave your hair to the breeze It hummed like a hive of honeybees I reached in the mass for the sweet honeycomb there God, how I loved your hair You saw me bludgeoned by circumstance lost, injured, hurt by chance I screamed to the heavens "loudly screamed" trying to change our nightmares into dreams The sun has come The mists has gone  We see in the distance our long way home I was yours to have and you were always mine We loved each other in and out, in and out, IN AND OUT of time

BEING ALONE

If you're going through a hard time alone, I hope this finds you and helps you through this period in your life. I would like to tell you about my experience of being alone without friends or family. The thing that really helped me get through this period was a quote I once heard which says "Life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% of how you react to it". You can choose to use this time to feel sorry for yourself, be sad and not do anything or you can use this time to better yourself. The time I spent being alone, I realized that it was the time in my life that I made the most improvement. Being alone is an opportunity to improve yourself in every area of you life without anyone bothering you. Your number one asset is time and now you have a lot of it. You can choose to use that time to better yourself; take care of your body, excerise, eat the right food, mediate, listening to audio books. While you are doing this, you are bettering yourself and taking yourself to ...

MY BRUSH WITH DEATH - PART 2

My Friday started ever so peaceful. I was out of the house once again very early with little to no sleep from the night before. I was very eager to start the weekend and attend a family wedding. Though I'm not a fan of Nigerian weddings, it was a distraction for me and I couldnt wait. I kept a low profile throughout the day and never knew this was the calm before the hurricane. I contemplated the idea of running back to London for a couple of months away from all my troubles but I remembered I had just got back to Lagos and had meetings back to back. I was so scared of being out of the house and even driving around Lagos. I just wanted to be alone. At about 3pm, I received a call from a friend who figured everything wasn't right with me and invited me to the cinema to watch the new Marvel movie - Thor Ragnarok. I had been looking forward to the movie so I thought what's the worst that could happen. Afterall, I couldn't hide forever from my troubles. For once in over a...

BE PROUD OF YOUR SCARS

When a bowl is broken in Japan, it is put together with the cracks being filled with gold; creating a beautiful lining. This is to emphasize the beauty in what was once broken. T hey believe that when something has suffered damage and has a history, it makes it more beautiful and the same goes for human beings. Everything that you've been through, everything that you're going through, doesn't make your life uglier although it may seem that way when we're going through it. I t's up to us to choose to paint our struggle with gold and make it beautiful. You are not broken beyond repair, you can pick yourself up and learn from what's happened and become a better person from it because of the struggle that you've been through. You can wear your scars proudly as a badge of honor as if to say "look at what i've been through, It's made me who I am today and I can get through anything life puts in front of me now".Nobody has had a perfect life a...

IN PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS

When the door of happiness closes another opens, but often times we look so long at the closed door but we don't see the one which has been opened for us . The best kind of friend is the kind you can just be with, never say a word and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had. It is true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it...but it is also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives. Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they love you back. Don't expect love in return...just wait for it to grow in their heart...but if it doesn't, be content it grew in yours! There are things you'd love to hear...that you will never hear from the person whom you'd like to hear them from...but don't be so deaf as not to hear it from the one who says it from their heart. Never say goodbye if you still want to try. Never give up if you still feel you can go on. Never say you...

MY BRUSH WITH DEATH - PART 1

There is a Yoruba proverb that states "Afìkọ̀kọ̀jalè, bí ọba ayé ò rí ọ, tọ̀rún rí ọ". In translation, it means "God sees all". The day I almost died was the day I understood the powers of God and my trust and faith in him. To properly narrate this story, I will begin with the misfortune I met prior to the incident that got my mind unsettled. I have always been careful with people I associate with ever since my days of school in the United Kingdom. I recall the wise words of my father always said to his kids "Remember the son/daughter of whom you are and keep away from bad influences". This was the era of credit card scams that were quite rampant in England at the time. I kept well clear of such influences and focused on my studies. I have always been a good, law abiding, peaceful person and I've never been involved with questionable characters in my life until last year when one of my so-called friends from school in Nigeria introduced me to h...
